Ascariasis

After finding a worm coming out of Chloe May's bottom this morning (yes I know), 6-8 inches in length, we quickly contacted the pediatrician who said to get over to the pediatric ER ASAP as this could be a very serious situation.  Two hours later we learned Chloe May had ingested some microscopic infected eggs awhile ago and now has a condition know as ascaris - which s basically a giant intestinal roundworm inside her.  Disgusting yes,, could have been potentially fatal if gone undetected, but
thank God treatable - and with (so far) only one dose of medicine.  So with some crushed up medicine in the applesauce, Chloe May got her pill and after some blood work (sad but I said just get it over with), we were on our way up to Nanny house for her birthday celebration.

This picture was taken as a reminder of when Chloe May was screaming in upset at having been wrapped up and having her blood drawn, the word she was repeating over and over "teo, teo" - as in Matteo.  Jules & I surmised that it is Matteo whom Chloe May gets her source of comfort from (yes she said my name as well, but saying her brothers in addition is just too sweet for me!).

Sadly I am reminded of just how fragile life is.  Thank you God for the treatable outcome.
