Tuesday

Why is everyone eating breakfast on the porch?

Because it's not every day you watch a 50 year old tree being taken down.

And see all the manpower that goes into same.

The kids then went to the dentist today - where they each received clean bills of health.  Though I was informed (and I always tear up at the dentist) that by the time She is 7 or 8 years old, Chloe May will most certainly need a pallet expander and eventually braces.

We then headed upstate to pay our respects to Oma.  I allowed Matteo to view Oma's body as I felt there is nothing wrong with death and didn't want him to be afraid of a wake.  Chloe May also - though I don't think she understood.  Matteo handled it all very well.

Mani/Pedi

Chloe May received her first manicure/pedicure at yesterday's birthday party.  To say I was nervous and sweating is an understatement - though I do admit she does look adorable.

And I too, after 4 + years, received a pedicure by a 9 year old.  Let me tell you, I felt special, pretty and like a teeny bopper - AND I LOVE IT!  Still wearing my hot pink crackle toe nail polish with silver over it and you know I'm sporting them all around town!  :-)

Our hearts are filled with sorrow.

Birthday Party

Today while our thoughts and prayers were with Oma, I took the kids to a birthday party (our neighbor and friend Tyler).

All dressed up for some backyard fun.

Matteo must have bounced for over an hour with the birthday boy and lots and lots of our children as well!

And wouldn't you know it spiderman came to do a little limba, hokey pokey and other great games for the little ones.

And in the end,  Chloe May loosened up enough for a sea-saw with our neighbor Paige.

Early in the evening, after receiving a call from Grandma telling me about Oma's poor condition, I went to visit Oma - and sadly things are not looking good.  Our hearts ache.

building

Matteo is all about building lately.

And Chloe makes a lovely assistant - when she simply hands pieces (or hands over her pieces).

And a late night phone call from Grandma has our prayers being sent to Oma.

Butterfly release

The butterfly release at Matteo's school was fun to watch yesterday.

Funny story about 2 weeks ago when food shopping we were in the toiletry isle and Matteo asks to buy lipstick for his "special friend."  So I let him ...buy a pack of EIGHT chap sticks (disney theme) for his friend and when he came home he gave Daddy $5 from his piggy bank.  However it was worth it as when he presented the little girl (who has been known to tell him he is "annoying" (yes my heart breaks the many times he has told me she says that)) - the little girl gave him a hug.  Matteo was the shade of one of those chapsticks I'm sure :-)  I think one day when Matteo is low on gas money, I will remind him of his $5 purchase.

And check back in a few weeks to see when we release our own butterflys - another birthday present I just recently opened and we sent away for caterpillar eggs.  (really great BTW).

Shaving cream

In moving forward with my new "Mrs." status, I was out the door at 8 AM and off to the SSA office.  That meant Daddy was in charge and I left Daddy with the two kids and a can of shaving cream.

The "fun" (thank you that I was not there) - started at the kitchen table.....

 Progressed to the kitchen sink....

 and finally.....

And I kid you not when I say...perhaps I should have purchased the scent free shaving cream, because our kitchen table smelled like barber shop for DAYS afterwards...days.  And even one week later is still hazy looking.

And what else did Daddy do while I was away..... the below grossness.

Thank the Heavens he is not a SAHD - but rather just  lots of fun (in small doses) :-)
