Halloween AM

Halloween morning we spent raking some leaves - and by "we" I meant daddy and matteo and by "daddy and matteo" i meant daddy. But first to get in the spirit of things, Daddy put on the $2.99 bargain shirt Mommy purchased for him at Old Navy last year the day after halloween. See picture below.

I couldn't figure out why it says "L" and fit Daddy so snuggly - - after all daddy usually wears "s"--- until grandma explained it was a boy's "L" haha! No wonder the sleeves were so short :-) Poor Daddy after a little moaning and groaning and mommy explaining how she was not going to waste $2.99 daddy wore the shirt.
And yes, it was this georgous a day out so Chloe May wanted to enjoy the leaves with matteo.

and well I guess Mommy did help after all :-)

Halloween PM

Early in the afternoon we took to trick or treating, as only one with a toddler would naturally do.

Matteo wore his monkey/curious george costume.

and our little "pumpkin" - pardon the pun - slept the whole time.

and yes, 2nd house we went to matteo received the lollypop he so desparately set out to receive and enjjoyed this MOST despite going to other homes.

Walking home that evening, Jules and I had to laugh at just how wonderful - though difficult at times -our little monkey is. He doesn't even realize how adorable/silly he looks in this outfit, he is just so innocent - something i as a parent forget from time-to-time. Maybe next time I do forget, I'll refer to the above halloween picture - a boy in a monkey suit eating his lollypop - how much better can life get :-)

Pumpkin Carving

With Halloween one day away, we had to make today a pumpkin carving day. Daddy, Matteo and Chloe (really just for photo opp) took to carving the first pumpkin.

A happy face.

And occcassionally you get a family photo, because yes, Mommy does exist.

And I just want to vent, so if I may: if i find that car full of teenagers (no doubt) who honked their horn and yelled at me as I was walking down the road wearing Chloe, I will gladly kick you a** and THEN call the police on your childish behavior. Clearly just a few mischief makers pre-Halloween but really when you have a baby with you tone it down moron. Thank you for allowing this vent. Now we are off to library for some pre-trick or treating fun.

Bed Day

And FINALLY THE BIG DAY...Matteo's new bed has arrived :-)

Matteo was so so excited for his new cars bed.... and then when Daddy pulled up in the truck with just a boxspring and mattress, Matteo's joy turned to sorrow....lots and lots of sorrow :-( Mommy helped calm Matteo and explained that if he didn't want the bed, Chloe would have it, and then suddenly he wanted the bed. And he is ever so happy with his new bed, sheets and comforter.

And yes, the gate does look a little small and the bed a bit high. But as Daddy so humerously pointed out, none of Matteo's other friends can probably touch the ceiling like he can. Actually I'm just used to his little crib mattress on the floor and if you know me, you know I don't adjust well to change. But alas Tiger Leopard and Matteo slept from 7 PM to 6:15 AM. Sweet dreams.

Raindate!

With the downpour of rain today, Matteo and Daddy took to wearing their raincoats and jumping in puddles.

And all of that jumping really wore our little 3 year old out :-)

Bedding

Well with Matteo's bed supposedly arriving tomorrow (we shall see), what was I missing...oh yes BEDDING! Let me tell you to find Matteo a comforter took over a week and in the end I concluded I would rather birth Chloe again then have to EVER shop for a comforter and sheets again. And for those of you wondering: Daddy and I purchased a comforter for our bed 6 years ago and there she still lays. Also - 1 pair of sheets we own, and that's all we need.

The problem you ask? Not every boy (or his mommy) likes blue and not every boy need be a football star. And then when I found something I liked, I would show Matteo who would point to every OTHER comforter he liked but the one I picked. Then, he would proceed to say "I like Mater."

But alas I found Matteo a comforter and he shall have that until his wife decides she wants to pick something else more appropriate out for him :-) Check back tomorrow or Friday to see the final results (yes I am still exhausted from the entire process).

and as for our little sister, Chloe can sleep with me until she is old enough to go and buy her own bedding :-)

Another day another celebration

and as tired as Mommy was from all the fun yesterday, it continued today with Grandma, Gramps and our cousins visiting.

Grandma brought Matteo some presents - of which I would expecting nothing else from our selfless Grandma (Matteo really loves the green hand soap Grandma).

Kimmie and Jay Jay enjoyed Chloe

And oh how quickly these three are becoming the three musketeers.

And Kimmie thinks Chloe is a "doll". Well indeed she is our little dollie.

and that Dear Amy is why I didn't answer the phone when you called, forgive me. And tomorrow I probably won't answer either as I am in clean up mode and relax mode...but I'll catch you on Monday :-)

How is it possible I have a 3 year old and it's so true, where did the time go? I'm so fortunate to be able to enjoy this time with Matteo and Chloe May, though not always easy, when the day is quiet I reflect on how fortunate I am. But I do need to ask Santa for more patience this Christmas that is for sure.

Thanks for visiting everyone - hope you enjoyed the time as much as we did :-)

Happy Birthday Matteo

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MATTEO!! Today is Matteo's 3rd birthday and I started out with the becoming usual picture by the fridge, only problem is, I forgot to put the words in the background--next year Matteo :-)

And before our guests arrived, Matteo and Chloe May sat for a photo together, which made me realize.....

our Christmas card is going to be VERY difficult this year with an infant and toddler :-)

After some initial play, we enjoyed some pizza together while Mommy tried to read a book to all of our guests (4 and under)..."tried"..haha.

And our good friend Sarah had the great idea to sit everyone on the counch for a photo together.

pin the tail

Next, we went back downstairs for some more fun in the playroom, this time we played pin the tail on the donkey...and as much fun as it is with the children, it's even more fun with the ADULTS!

and infants.

(I think Rory cheated here as she is not wearing the mask...but who am I to say :-).

the end

while Chloe May enjoyed some girl time with Rory...

the boys enjoyed racing cars down the track....which in the end is really all they wanted to do Mommy learned, forget the donkey, forget the hot potato, give them wheels, some siding and "whose car is fastest" and they were all set (forgive me I'm learning).

we headed upstairs later for some cake (Mommy and Daddy made it and yes green icing was enjoyed)

and Mommy was really very tired in the end, but Matteo had a happy celebration with his friends and really that is what is important.

Happy 3 buddy, one day at a time I can't wait to see what is in store for us.

dino update....

Matteo was so excited about the dinosaurs, he fell asleep holding them.

Thanks again Katelyn!

Yes Katelyn,

Matteo LOVES his presents. Thanks so much for sending him the package in the mail...and really, who doesn't LOVE to receive mail?

First Matteo opened and played with his dinosaurs......

Daddy too enjoyed the dinosaurs and lined them all up and then proceeded to take about 5 or 6 pictures of them all..2 by 2.

So Mommy was happy and I didn't even show hiim the rest of the dinosaurs. We went to the park for 2 hours this morning, and Matteo took the dinosaur head (the one that was on top of the container) with him. And really, I bet who ever put that toy together would never have imagined how much use you can get out of one single dinosaur head. :-) That poor head ate so much mulch at the park..unreal. Good thing it doesn't have a body because it would be F A T!

Then when we came home, Matteo found MORE presents from Katelyn. Below he has just opened us his car and well Photo-opportunity.

Of course Daddy once again took over and said "thanks Dan" :-)

Although Matteo doesn't understand how the remote control works and why it is not attached to the car..Daddy will explain it to him soon enough, if he ever lets go of the remote long enough.

We really appreciate your presents Katelyn, thanks for thinking of us.

Hair today, shorter tomorrow.

Looking back, it's been quite a 365 days with Matteo and hard to believe that tomorrow my little boys turns 3! Sometimes I can't remember the days without him (or maybe don't want to) and other days - to be honest - i can't wait for his eyes to close and fall alseep at night. But these are the best days of our life I have come to conclude, so here's a look back at Matteo's hair this past year..... (odd you would say that for a boy, don't you think).

Day's before his second birthday, Matteo enjoyed his first haircut...

And again before his third birthday, Matteo enjoyed probably his 9th haircut his whole life (all of which took place between years 2 and 3).

I'm thinking I like it short best :-) Really brings out the "boy" in him - - what do you think?

Sticker time

Oma (Matteo's great - grandmother) not only sent Matteo a birthday card with a present inside, but also sent him some stickers!!

And Matteo proceeded to put every sticker on his shirt...and then Mommy's furniture (which was severely discouraged).

10-18-06 & 10-19-04

Well today it's not all the rain keeping me in, it's just a bad time of year for Mommy....... you see dear Blog readers, three years ago today I was coming home from work (41 1/2 weeks pregnant - because even so pregnant I still worked as I liked the $$ and really what am I going to do sit home and eat - clearly the baby was not ready to come out), I was rear-ended by someone whom I knew was going to rear end me eventually as she was following too closely. This in turn caused me to rear end the person in front of me who was stopped at a red light. Thankfully (due to my condition), no air bags were deployed and Mommy just spent 8 hours in the hospital being monitored, observed and plugged into everything you can imagine.

NOW, 5 years ago TOMORROW, when Mommy and Daddy only had one car and used to carpool to work, the weather was too rainy and windy and Daddy was driving the car and we were in another accident - this one caused by a person coming in the opposite direction, coming into our lane of travel, crashing into the car in front of us, which caused us to hit that car which caused the car behind us to hit us...I think that is how it went..it's very fuzzy. Either way - I"m staying off the roads as much as possible today and tomorrow :-) Maybe Tuesday too :-) Oh yes Daddy totaled that new car he was driving - only about 11 months old, which was fine with me because I didn't really like it and instead got my Rav 4 which I love love and thankfully in either crash no one was seriously hurt.

Grandma and Gramps

Well it's Saturday, less than a week before the big No. 3 for Matteo and guess who came for an early celebration - GRANDMA AND GRAMPS!!! And needless to say the fun ensued :-)

First Grandma was telling Mommy a story about how she keeps her house locked so no one can sneak though the windows, well my little sponge Matteo was listening and asked Grandma to tell the story over and over and over...I kid you not, Grandma had to tell this story, although it became more about Gramps cleaning the windows then it did about a burglar sneaking INTO the house, no less than 8 times. By the end of the 8th time, there was a deer walking across the property :-) Trust me you had to be there. The look on Gramdmas face everytime Matteo signed "more"...was priceless.

Gramps finally got around to fixing the one last tear in my rug from when we had the flood last spring......

and Aunt Adrienne knew exactly what Matteo wanted for his birthday a "tiger leopard".

Grandma bought Matteo a birthday cake so that way she could sing to him (mommy did explain to him that it was just practice and today was not his birthday).

and no Matteo is not being attacked while he sleeps, rather snuggling with his new best friend "Tiger Leopard."

Yes folks, we have a busy week here on Tall Tree - - getting ready for birthday party No. 3 for Matteo :-) So check back in and see what's going on this week.

Dinosaurs

With today being Matteo's last day of the farm and also so close to Halloween, Matteo and Daddy painted a pumpkin at the farm today.

I love this picture, if you notice Matteo is 1) in a new location in his bedroom (yes sleeping under the window didn't work too well for Mommy); 2) is wearing his new monkey slippers to bed (curious george we continue to love you) and if you look closely in his hand he is holding his green car which he simply could not fall asleep without---mmm to be a toddler again when the biggest upset is where your car is......that's okay Matteo, Mommy found it :-)

And as Matteo is just about to turn 3 next week - seems as though he is growing a bit out of the car phase and into the dinosaur phase. They grow so quickly :-)
